Greene named the next city manager for Lexington

The Lexington City Council named Terra Greene as the next city manager during its regular meeting on Monday.

Greene, who is currently the assistant city manager for Lexington, will replace Alan Carson who will be retiring from his position on Dec. 31 and taking the job of city manager of Thomasville, Georgia. Greene will sworn in at the next city council meeting on Nov. 26 and will begin her role on Jan. 1.

Greene is the first female to be named Lexington City Manager and the 10th person appointed city manager by the city council. She said she is extremely pleased to be offered this opportunity to step into the leadership role for Lexington.

“I am absolutely honored that the city council entrusts me with this incredible responsibility for the community,” Greene said. “I partner very well with Alan. We are like ying and yang. I want to continue those initiatives that he has planted, and I will bring something of my own to the table.”

She said she is looking forward to entering this newest chapter in her professional career and to serve the residents of Lexington.
